Reiki is offered in many hospitals and Centers for Alternative
Medicine as a complementary modality. The Mayo Clinic and the
Cleveland Clinic embrace Reiki because it is healing, calming,
and non-invasive.
Reiki
(Ray-Key) is a technique in which the practitioner channels the
Universal Life Energy to the client. Reiki is a holistic
modality which works toward harmonization of the mind, body, and
spirit.
Reiki is a gentle energy modality which may be beneficial in
lessening or alleviating stress, headaches, digestive issues,
stomach upsets, PMS, sinus problems, and overall energy
congestion.
Sessions last up to one hour. Because there is no pressure
applied to the body, it is ideal for all ages. A powerful and
gentle healing technique, Reiki is a useful holistic tool in any
stage of life.

Prevention of
Soul Loss Through Examination of Past Events
According
to the International Center for Reiki Training, nurses are
utilizing Reiki to enhance their practice in the following ways.
·
Self-care to
avoid “burn out.” Nurses are often pushed to the limit and Reiki
is a wonderful way to recharge and energize.
·
Utilize the
symbols in rooms where work will be performed (ICU, CCU, RR,
Dialysis Unit, etc.). This calms the atmosphere and promotes the
highest outcome for all involved that day.
·
Nurses in
endoscopy units, diagnostic labs, and recovery rooms report that
drawing or visualizing the symbols on walls, beds, etc. promotes
a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.
·
Patients are
reported to have less bleeding, less pain, and a quicker
recovery when Reiki is used.
·
Many providers
draw the Reiki symbols over medications, setting the intent that
the medications will raised to the highest vibration so that
those who receive it will be healed and comforted with minimal
pain and side effects (this includes radiation and
chemotherapy).
·
Placing the
symbols or giving Reiki to diagnostic and surgical instruments
has been reported to promote a better outcome.
·
Nurses have
stated that using the symbols during meetings promotes calmness
and understanding. One can also send Reiki to the person in the
“hot seat” to encourage them to remain calm and speak clearly.
·
Home care nurses
use Reiki in physical and psychological assessments, changing
dressings, paper work, health care teaching and working with
family members.
·
Recovery room
nurses report that by applying either Reiki or the Reiki symbols
to an incision site or target areas, patients have an easier
time waking up from anesthesia and report fewer side effects.
·
Emergency room
staff use Reiki to calm patients, sometimes allowing them to
provide better, more intensive care when needed as the patient
becomes more open to treatment. It can also be used to calm
family members.
·
Dr. Nancy Eos
explains in her book, “Reiki and Medicine,” how she uses Reiki
to help her decide which person needs to be seen first in
triage.
·
Nurses in
administrative or management positions use Reiki when doing
stressful tasks such as staffing, counseling, and reviewing
employees. Reiki calms the situation, and creates a more
receptive state and clearer thinking.
·
Some managers
even give themselves Reiki before going into a staff meeting, as
it may help the meeting go smoother.
·
Nurses in Labor
and Delivery and many other modalities report that Reiki
enhances their skills, allowing them to provide more personal
and effective care.
